Blue Full Moon in Sagittarius 2026: What this Full Moon Means for You
it’s not, and is, that deep
(blue) Full Moon in Sagittarius

The Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st, 2026, makes an entrance as a Blue Moon- a rare second full moon in a month - reminding us that we are here to truly LIVE, and to feel and experience all that entails.
When I tuned into the energy of this Full Moon, the first thing I heard was laughter.
Well, more specifically - giggles. Bright, bubbling, slightly uncontrollable giggles rising up from somewhere deep and delighted.
And then a phrase arrived — one my daughter and her Gen Alpha friends use all the time whenever something is getting too heavy:
"It's not that deep."
And then I laughed, because of course. Of course that is the message of a Sagittarius Full Moon.
And then, right on the heels of that, the second part of the message landed — quieter, but just as true:
And it also absolutely is that deep too.
Because here is the thing about Sagittarius - like us humans, he holds both. He is the philosopher and the adventurer. The seeker of truth and the lover of a good time. The one who asks the biggest questions — why are we here? what does it all mean? what is the nature of the universe? — and also the one who throws back his head and laughs at the sheer, delicious absurdity and often ridiculousness, of being alive.
This Full Moon is reminding us of both.
That life is meaningful and purposeful and worthy of our deepest attention. And that it is also meant to be lived — with joy, with laughter, with adventure, with the kind of lightness that only comes when we stop gripping our journey so tightly that we forget to enjoy the ride.

The Energy of Sagittarius: Mutable Fire & the Joy of the Journey
As the mutable Fire sign of the Zodiac, Sagittarius is the energy of expansion, wisdom, adventure and the eternal, joyful search for meaning.
Sagittarius is the archer — arrow pointed toward the horizon, eyes bright with the excitement of what might be just around the next bend.
In his light, Sagittarius is optimistic, generous, truth-seeking, hilariously funny and deeply, genuinely free.
Sagittarius reminds us that perspective is everything — that the same situation can feel like a prison or an adventure depending entirely on the story we choose to tell.
Sagittarius also reminds us that joy is not a reward for completing our healing. It is not something we earn after we have done enough inner work, released enough, grown enough, suffered enough.
Joy is part of the spiritual path.
Adventure is part of the spiritual path.
Laughter — ridiculous, snorting, peeing-your-pants, tears-streaming-down-your-face laughter — is absolutely part of the spiritual path.
Yet in his shadow expression, Sagittarius can become reckless, restless, self-righteous and avoidant of that which might cause him to slow down and actually feel. He can be brutally blunt in the name of truth without considering the impact of his words.
The shadow of Sagittarius is when his search for meaning becomes an avoidance of presence, and the quest for adventure becomes a refusal to sit with what is real.
This Full Moon asks us to claim the light — the joy, the laughter, the freedom, the adventure, the gorgeous bigness of a life lived with genuine enthusiasm — while also helping us realize that claiming this light requires our presence.
The Astrology: Uranus, Saturn & Neptune
Astrologically, one of the more “activating” aspects during of this lunation, is the opposition between this Full Moon and Uranus in Gemini. Uranus is the great disruptor, the awakener, the one who arrives precisely when things have gotten too comfortable and shakes the table. His opposition to this Sagittarius Moon fuels a general sense of restlessness — a feeling that things are unpredictable, that the ground is shifting, that we can not quite see where we are headed.
And we totally are navigating genuinely unpredictable times. Uranus in Gemini is just beginning a seven-year journey through this sign, rewriting the way information flows, the way we think and communicate, and the foundations of what we believe to be true (thanks a lot AI!). The restlessness is real. The uncertainty is real. And this Full Moon is not here to pretend otherwise.
But it is here to offer us a different relationship to that uncertainty.
Because the trine from this Full Moon to Saturn in Aries is a gift of grounding and structure — a reminder that even in the most unpredictable of landscapes, we can find our footing. We can build something. We can stay anchored in our values and our commitments even when the wider world feels unmoored. Saturn's steady, architectural presence says: you do not need to see the whole path. You just need to take the next step.
And the trine to Neptune in Aries adds a layer of faith and spiritual trust — a gentle, dissolving reassurance that something larger is at work here, even when we cannot see it. Neptune in Aries is the energy of spiritual courage, of trusting the invisible, of surrendering the need to control the outcome and instead aligning with the unfolding.
It's Not That Deep: Remembering our Joy
Let’s be real friends: We’ve been understandably serious lately.
The world is asking a lot of us. Our inner work is asking a lot of us.
The collective weight of what is happening on this Earth is real, and it deserves to be taken seriously.
Your spiritual journey is real.
Your growth is real.
Your healing is real and important and deeply meaningful.
And — you are also just a person. A beautiful, ridiculous, temporary, miraculous person on a spinning rock in an infinite universe, and please don’t forget that you came here to live.
Not just to grow.
Not just to heal.
Not just to show up for every difficult inner reckoning with spiritual maturity.
Not to live vicariously through our screens.
And certainly not to constantly create content for some never satiated social media beast.
We came here to laugh until our stomachs ache with joy.
To have experiences that take our breath away.
To try new things and sometimes excel at them and other times fail at them delightfully.
To feel the sun on our skin and eat something extraordinary and stay up too late in deep conversation.
To be surprised. To be delighted.
To be, every once in a while, completely and gloriously irresponsible about the passage of time.
This Sagittarius Full Moon is illuminating wherever we have been minimizing our own joy. Wherever we have been telling ourselves that fun is a luxury we will get to later. Wherever we have put our pleasure, our play, our adventure on hold until we have earned it or finished enough or healed enough or arrived enough.
There is no arriving. There is only living.
It's not that deep. Sometimes the most evolved thing we can do is laugh.
And also…
It Is That Deep: Forgiveness, Release & the Gift of Lightness
While this Full Moon is absolutely an invitation to lighten up — there’s also something profoundly meaningful happening underneath all that joy.
This lunation is illuminating the places where we are still holding on. Still gripping. Still carrying the weight of old hurts, old grudges, old stories about ourselves and others that are simply too heavy for the adventure ahead.
This Sagittarius Full Moon wants to help us release:
The resistance we have been holding around forgiving others — not because they deserve it, but because we deserve to put down the weight of carrying it.
The resistance we have been holding around forgiving ourselves — for the mistakes, the detours, the times we reacted instead of responded, the things we wish we had done differently.
The pain from past hurts that have, over time, calcified into armor, keeping out not just the things that hurt us but the things that could delight us.
The blocks we have built around our own sense of humor, our own playfulness, our own capacity for genuine, uncomplicated fun — because somewhere along the way we decided that joy was frivolous and seriousness was more evolved.
None of this is trivial. The work of releasing these things is some of the deepest work there is. It just doesn't have to be heavy.
That is what Sagittarius understands that other signs sometimes miss: transformation can happen through laughter. Healing can happen through adventure. We can release the old while simultaneously throwing ourselves, arms wide, into the new.
It is that deep. It just doesn't have to feel heavy.
Conclusion: Don’t wait until a Blue Moon to Remember to Live
This Sagittarius Blue Full Moon rises on the final night of May, and she arrives with an arrow pointed straight at the horizon and laughter in her throat.
She reminds us that we have done her deep “work” this month. The Scorpio Full Moon at the month's beginning asked us to look honestly at our shadows and hold our ground. The Taurus New Moon in the middle asked us to plant our seeds and trust the growth. And now this Blue Moon in Sagittarius closes the arc with the most Sagittarian message possible: Now go live.
Go be surprised! Let something be funny. Let the forgiveness you have been withholding from yourself or someone else finally move through and out. Let your joy be as important as your growth — because they are not separate things, and they never were.
You came here with purpose. You came here with passion. You came here with the capacity for profound love and deep, transformative growth.
And you also came here to laugh.
May this Sagittarius Full Moon shake off your grudges as she invigorates your playful, laugh-inducing joy.
with infinite love and lunar blessings,
Rachael
