New Moon in Aries 2026

The Aries New Moon arrives in the early hours of April 17th, 2026, and she comes in — as Aries tends to do — fast, bright, and full of fire.

Yet beneath all that Aries fire, the Moon has a quiet invitation for us all - Simmer down.

This isn’t one of those repress your emotions and fake calmness kind of simmering down. No, the Moon wants us to remember to simmer down so that we do our best to respond instead of react.

Because the fiery chaos in the outside world is real and what we are feeling is valid. Yet there is a very important difference between reacting from the heat of a triggered moment, and responding from a place of genuine alignment — and this action oriented Aries New Moon really wants us to understand that difference.

Because the truth is, with six celestial bodies currently gathered in Aries — the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn and Neptune — there is a lot of fiery, fast-moving, assertive energy in the air right now. There’s a whole lot of heat and impulse, and urgency. We may be feeling a lot of "there is so much to do and I need to do all of it right now."

And in the middle of all of that — this New Moon whispers: slow down and breathe.

Keep reading to discover more about what this New Moon in Aries means for you…

The Energy of Aries: Cardinal Fire & the Courage to Begin

As the cardinal Fire sign and the very first sign of the Zodiac and of the astrological year, Aries possesses the energy of initiation, courage, desire and new beginnings.

Aries is the first spark. He is the flame of ignition and the moment the seed cracks open, pushing toward the light.

In his light, Aries is bold, passionate, honest and extraordinarily alive. Aries is not afraid to want what he wants, say what he means, or go after what lights him up. He reminds us that our truest desires are not selfish — they are directional. Our desires are clues pointing us toward what we are here to experience and create.

Aries is also deeply personal, as the sign that represents the Self, individual identity, personal truth, and the courage it takes to show up as exactly who you are.

Yet in his shadow, Aries can move so fast that he skips past the very wisdom he needs most and too often reacts before taking the time to process.

The shadow of Aries is when our fire burns from our wounds rather than our truthwhen we confuse reactivity with courage, or urgency with clarity.

This New Moon asks us to know the difference. And to choose wisely.

The Astrology: A Gathering of Fire & the Wisdom of Chiron

This is one of the most potent Aries lunations in recent memory — and the astrology reflects exactly why.

With six celestial bodies in Aries — the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Mars, Saturn and Neptune — the energy of this sign is amplified in every direction. Our thoughts are fast (Mercury in Aries). Our drive is high (Mars in Aries, in his home sign). Our desire to build something real and lasting is strong (Saturn in Aries). And our intuition and spiritual sensitivity are simmering away beneath it all (Neptune in Aries).

Let’s not forget that while Aries is the cardinal fire sign, Aries also represents the mythological god of war and aggression. Once again Astrology showing us how our actions down here tend to map the stars and celestial beings up there.

There is fire everywhere. And with fire everywhere, it is easy to feel like everything needs to happen right now. Like there is too much to do, too much to say, too much to accomplish so why even begin.

This is the energy to be aware of and to work with rather than be swept away by.

Meaningfully, this New Moon occurs in a tight conjunction with Chiron — the asteroid known as the Wounded Healer. Chiron's presence here is not accidental. He invites us to look honestly at where our reactions are coming from — whether we are acting from our authentic, aligned self, or from an older, more wounded part of us that is still trying to protect itself. And to note that that self-protection is also a form of self-love.

This is not about fixing our wounds. It is about recognizing them — and choosing not to let them be the ones steering the ship.

It’s also worth noting that all major planets are currently direct, meaning there is cosmic support for building momentum. The energy is available and pathways are opening. With all that Aries fire and focus, this is genuinely one of the most supportive New Moon windows of the year for setting intentions and beginning something new.

The question is simply: what do you actually want to create? And are you acting from that — or from your wounded reactions?

Simmer Down: Respond, Don't React

Here is something important to remember as we move through this fiery Aries new Moon:

Your emotions are not problems to be fixed. They are not truths about who you are. Your emotions are messengers of your needs.

They are your body's way of letting you know that a need wants to be met — a need for safety, for connection, for respect, for rest, for action or for something more. And your needs deserve to be heard. They deserve space and acknowledgment and care.

But there is a crucial difference between feeling an emotion and reacting from it.

When we react — especially under the kind of concentrated Aries energy present right now — we tend to act from the most activated, most triggered, most wounded part of ourselves. The part that is still operating from old stories, old fears, old patterns of protection. Parts of us that tend to project our pain out toward others.

When we respond — even just after a single conscious breath — we give ourselves the chance to act from somewhere truer. From our actual values. From our real desires. From the part of us that knows what we genuinely want and how we genuinely want to show up.

That pause is where our power lives.

And right now, with all of this Aries fire swirling — in our minds, in our nervous systems, in the collective — that pause becomes one of the most revolutionary acts we can choose.

Conclusion: Light your Fire with Intention

This Aries New Moon is alive and bright with potential.

She is fast and flashy and full of the kind of energy that can genuinely move mountains — or genuinely burn through everything in its path before we have had a chance to choose what we actually wanted.

The invitation is to use the fire wisely.

To simmer down long enough to hear what is true for you beneath the noise and the heat and the urgency. To breathe, to feel, to process — and then to act from your most aligned, authentic, awake self rather than your most reactive one.

Not from your wounds but from your wisdom.

Not from your urgency but from your intention.

And not from your fear but from the genuine, embodied fire of who you actually are.

Get honest about what you want to grow under this Aries New Moon. Take personal responsibility for the energy you are bringing into the world. And please remember that the most powerful thing you can do with all this Aries energy is not to move faster. Instead use this momentum building support of this lunation to pause, simmer down, and breathe, so that you move with the kind of focused, aligned fire that actually sparks, energizes and creates what it sets out to create.

May this New Moon in Aries ignite exactly what is ready to be created from the light that is you.

with infinite love and lunar blessings,

Rachael
