This New Moon in Virgo encourages us to notice and move with our inner eagerness to create a life of meaning and intention.
When I connected with the energy of this New Moon, I felt something titillating, tantalizing and oh so eager move through me. Like little bubbles popping under my feet, paired with the excitement of making stuff happen.
Not the frantic, buzzing, anxious energy of I need to do more.
Something way more pleasurable than that. Something that felt like waking up after a long nap and stretching your arms so wide.
A readiness. An eagerness. The feeling of looking at our life — our daily life, our routines, our creative work, our physical world — and feeling genuinely excited to create and tend to this unique life we are living.
Then the theme for this lunation dropped in for me:
Get EAGER TO CREATE.
And know, this eagerness is not about hustle but desire. Not about control, but about creation.
That is the invitation of this Virgo New Moon. Not to push harder or produce more. But to feel — perhaps for the first time in a while — the genuine, embodied eagerness of a being who actually wants to create. Who is motivated not by fear of falling behind but by the quiet, potent pull of desire.

The Energy of Virgo: Mutable Earth & the Sacred in the Everyday
As the mutable Earth sign of the zodiac, Virgo is the energy of discernment, craft, devotion and the extraordinary sacredness of the everyday.
Virgo understands something that our culture of grand gestures and overnight transformations tends to miss: the most magnificent things are built in the small, consistent, carefully tended details of daily life. Virgo energy embodies the habit refined and practice returned to. The creative work shown up for, day after day, not because it is always easy but because it matters. Virgo understands integration.
Virgo is the sign of the artisan, the healer, the devoted caretaker of both body and craft. She finds meaning not in the dramatic but in the meticulous — in the satisfaction of something done well, of a system that works, of a body that feels genuinely nourished. And the mundane activities of our daily lives are always invitations to magical connections.
In her light, Virgo is grounded, perceptive, creative, skillful and deeply motivated by genuine service — to her work, to her health, to the people she loves and to the vision she is quietly, devotedly building.
Yet in her shadow, Virgo can tip into perfectionism. She can become hypercritical, of herself most of all, measuring her worth by her output and finding herself perpetually falling short of an impossible standard. She can overthink, over-analyze and over-refine until the joy of creating has been squeezed out entirely.
The shadow of Virgo is when devotion becomes self-punishment — when the desire to do something beautifully curdles into the fear of doing it “wrong”.
This New Moon asks us to reclaim the light: the genuine, grounded, joyful eagerness of a being who loves what she is building and is excited — not anxious — to devote herself to it.
The Astrology: Mars, Uranus & the Neptune-Pluto Alignment
Thankfully, the astrology surrounding this New Moon is supportive of our creativity.
This New Moon forms a sextile to Mars in Cancer — a harmonious, activating aspect that provides genuine motivational fuel. While Mars doesn’t really love being in Cancer, we can use this transit to our benefit. Mars in Cancer is less aggressive or forceful — he is motivated by what he loves, by what feels like home, by what he genuinely cares for and wants to nourish and protect. This Mars energy feeds perfectly into the "eager to create" theme: it is desire-led motivation, not fear or scarcity led hustle. It is the energy of someone who creates because they want to, not because they have to.
On the same day of this lunation, Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini. When Uranus - the planet of sudden change, revolution and liberation- turns inward, the disruptive, revolutionary energy that has been shaking up the outer world begins to work more quietly and more personally — inviting us to revolutionize our own inner landscape, our own thinking, our own relationship to what we are creating and why. This is a beautiful support for turning away from external pressure and returning to our own inner creative compass.
And then — arriving just days after this New Moon on September 15th — Neptune sextile Pluto perfects exactly for the second time in 3 months (it occurred earlier this summer on July 24th as well). In this rare and extraordinary long-term generational alignment, which remains active through 2032, Neptune dissolves illusions, while Pluto transforms what has been outgrown. Working together in harmony, this transit has the potential to support a genuine collective and personal evolution for us humans.
In the context of this Virgo New Moon, this aspect adds a layer of spiritual trust to the creative seeds we are planting — a reminder that what we are building is part of something larger, something that matters, something that the universe is genuinely conspiring to support.
Eager to Create: Desire, Not Hustle
This Virgo New Moon also wants to remind us that there is a very different feeling between creating from desire and creating from hustle.
Hustle feels like urgency and obligation and pressure. Like productivity is a measure of worth and rest is something you have to earn. Hustle is driven by the fear of not being enough, not doing enough, not arriving at some imaginary destination fast enough. It is exhausting. And while we may still create glorious creations through this energy, it always comes at the cost of our own energy.
Desire feels like something else entirely.
Desire is the quiet pull toward something that genuinely matters to you. The excitement that rises when you think about a project, a creative practice, a daily ritual, a way of tending to your body or your space or your work. Desire does not need to be forced. It does not need a productivity system or an accountability partner. It simply needs to be heard — and honored.
This is the invitation of this Virgo New Moon: to return to your desire as the engine of your creativity.
Not what should I be creating? but what do I genuinely want to create? Not how do I get more done? but what actually lights me up when I return to it?
Virgo is the sign most intimately connected to our daily lives — to our routines, our bodies, our physical environments, our craft. And this lunation is asking us to look at all of that through the lens of desire rather than obligation. To ask: where in my daily life do I feel genuinely eager? Where has the eagerness gone — and how do I want to call it back?
And this by no means implies that we should only act from a place of desire and ease (whatever the hell that means!) because that’s just not possible. Of course we all have obligations and responsibilities and moments where we must hustle to get things done that need to get done.
Yet the Moon is reminding us to balance the hustle within us with our desire, especially when relating to our heart-led creations and most especially within a society that (currently) keeps us forever hustling.
Creation, Not Control
There is one more distinction this New Moon wants to make — and it is an important one.
Our life is not about control. Our life is about creation.
Control is the energy of trying to make things go exactly the way we planned. Of gripping the outcome and micromanaging the process because trusting it feels too uncertain. Control is exhausting and ultimately futile — because life, like all creative processes, has its own intelligence and its own timing.
Creation is something freer. Creation is the willingness to begin — to plant the seed, to tend the soil, to show up for the work — while remaining genuinely open to where it wants to go. Creation trusts, communicates and collaborates. Creation follows desire rather than forcing outcome. Creation knows that the most extraordinary things emerge not from rigid control but from devoted, open-handed engagement with the process.
Virgo at her best is the master of this. She brings extraordinary skill, attention and devotion to her work — and she trusts the work to tell her what it needs. She does not white-knuckle it into being. She tends and listens to it. She follows the thread of her own genuine interest and lets that be enough.
This New Moon invites you back into that energy. Back into the daily, physical, beautifully ordinary world of your life — and into the genuine creative eagerness that is available to you there, right now, in the details and the devotion of exactly where you are.
Begin Something Small and Real
This Virgo New Moon arrives on the cusp of autumn in the northern hemisphere — the season of harvest, of preparing, of tending what has been growing all year.
The Virgo New Moon is not asking for grand gestures. She is not asking for a complete life overhaul or a dramatic new beginning. She is asking for something much more Virgo than that.
She is asking you to begin something meaningful, impactful and real. One habit returned to. One creative practice showed up for. One area of your daily life tended with genuine care and genuine pleasure. One honest look at what you actually want to be building — and one small, devoted step toward it.
Because the eagerness to create is not something you have to manufacture or force. It is already in you — a quiet, potent, desire-shaped light waiting for you to notice it and give it somewhere to go.
This New Moon is your invitation.
May this Virgo New Moon help you feel the genuine, delicious eagerness within you to live a life of your own creation.
So plant those seeds. Tend the soil. And trust the process.
with infinite love and lunar blessings,
Rachael
