New Moon in Aquarius with Solar Eclipse 2026: what this lunation means for you

New moon in Aquarius 2026
with solar eclipse
February 17th

The Aquarius New Moon of 2026 arrives as a Solar Eclipse, opening a potent and humbling threshold. One that asks us to think bigger, wider, and further into the future — while also asking us to slow down, ground, and remember the Earth beneath our feet.
The theme of this lunation, keep Earth in mind, carries a double invitation. Yes, it calls us to remember Earth herself — and all her children, human and more-than-human — as we speak about freedom, progress, and collective liberation. And it also asks us, quite literally, to keep Earth energy in our bodies and minds. To ground the excess Air, Fire, and Water moving through the skies right now.
To come back into our bodies.
To touch grass. To breathe. To root.
To turn to Nature and remember what I lovingly refer to as the “real real” - the reality of us cohabitating on a living, breathing, interconnected planet, that we share with billions, no trillions, of others beings.
There is an ancient prophecy of the Condor and the Eagle, originating from indigenous Amazonian tribes, that tells of the time, spanning around 500 years (starting in the late 15th century and ending in the late 20th century), in which the “Eagle People” become so incredibly power-hungry that they nearly eradicate the “Condor People”. In some versions of this prophecy, the Eagle people represent those who have chosen the way of the mind, of industry and individualism -patriarchal energies- while the Condor people represent the way of intuition, community, and interconnected co-existence - matriarchal ways.
Yet after those first 500 years, the prophecy states that the next 500 years will invite the Eagle and Condor people to come back together, to merge their ways and learn from each other. To share the skies once again, flying together, weaving intellect with intuition, progress with sustainability, and innovation with deep reverence for the living world. To co-create a new consciousness that keeps our interconnection in mind.
Yet the prophecy doesn’t say this will come to pass. The prophecy speaks only of the invitation, the potential of this new co-created consciousness. It’s up to each of us to accept this invitation and meet that potential within us. And this Aquarius New Moon with solar eclipse, is a direct invitation into this new consciousness.
This is the frequency of the Aquarius New Moon eclipse. Both a recognition and an invitation. A recognition that true progress cannot come at the expense of the Earth — and that the same systems that exploit people, communities, and cultures are the very systems that exploit the planet herself. And an invitation for us to find ways to stay grounded and embodied as we envision new ways of existing on Earth. Ways that merge progress with restoration, innovation with sustainability, intellect with intuition, and the love of ourselves with the love for each other.

The Light and Shadow of Aquarius
The fixed Air sign, Aquarius, carries a deep devotion to collective well-being, progress-minded thinking, and the courage to imagine what has never existed before.
Aquarius carries the long view. Aquarius asks us to think beyond ourselves, beyond the moment, and beyond what has already been tried.
In their light, Aquarius reminds us that we are not meant to evolve alone — that community, cooperation, and shared responsibility are how real change takes root.
Of course, just like everyone, Aquarius has their shadows. In reaching for the future, Aquarius can lose touch with the present. In prioritizing ideas, they can bypass bodies. There can be a temptation to stay in the mind, to detach, or to avoid the emotional and ecological realities that are asking for our care right now.
So if you’ve been feeling particularly heady or cerebral lately, thank Aquarius season and this potent Aquarius New Moon eclipse!
This lunation asks us to keep balancing ourselves through our connection to Earth. The Moon encourages us to let Aquarius widen our vision — without leaving the body behind. To imagine new systems and new ways of living while staying grounded in the realities of people, communities, and ecosystems. We are learning how to share power without disappearing ourselves, and how to build futures that are visionary and rooted.
Astrology of the Moment: Saturn, neptune and eclipses, oh my!
Yup, we are in eclipse season friends…
This New Moon eclipse marks the beginning of a new eclipse chapter, with the Moon’s North Node in Aquarius guiding this lunation.
Over the next 18 months (or so), eclipses along the Aquarius–Leo axis will continue to reshape how we relate to individuality and collectivity, leadership and belonging. We are asked to move away from over-identifying with ego and performance, and instead move toward something more collaborative and innovative.
Eclipse season is typically a time when the Universe does much of the moving for us. Eclipses are not moments for forceful manifestation or pushing outcomes. Instead, they invite surrender. We loosen our grip, take a step back, and allow what is no longer aligned to shift or fall away — often in ways we could not have planned.
Which is why I don’t suggest conducting Moon magic or rituals during eclipse seasons. The learning to surrender and coming back to my own center is ritual enough for me during eclipse season, yet as always, you are welcome to conduct your practice how it feels good for you.
Beyond eclipse energy, there are lots of others astrological movements happening during this time that signify big and powerful change as well, of which I am highlighting two - Saturn’s move into Aries along with Saturn and Neptune’s conjunction in Aries.
Just days before this New Moon, on February 13/14, Saturn moves into Aries, beginning a new cycle around responsibility, leadership, and accountability. Saturn in Aries asks us to grow up in our actions — to take responsibility for how we initiate, assert and create structures for ourselves.
Then, on February 20, we experience a rare and powerful alignment: Saturn and Neptune conjunct at 0° Aries, the very first degree of the zodiac. This is a cosmic “seed moment” blending structure (Saturn) with imagination and spiritual vision (Neptune). Old dreams dissolve, while new ones quietly begin to form.
Because we are still in eclipse season, this is not about rushing to define or manifest those dreams. It is about listening. Feeling into what is emerging. Letting the future take shape organically as these energies slowly anchor into our bodies, our communities, and our relationship with Earth.
Remember a seed doesn’t emerge from the soil immediately after being planted. It needs time to incubate, germinate and grow at it’s own rate.
Keep Earth in Mind
With so much Air, Fire, and Water moving through the skies, this New Moon asks us to consciously invite Earth energy back in.
On a collective level, this means remembering that any future we build — especially through technology, innovation, and new systems — must support the health of the planet itself. Liberation that destroys ecosystems, animals, or marginalized communities is not liberation at all.
On a personal level, this means grounding. Getting out into Nature. Touching the Earth. Letting your body remember where it belongs.
You might imagine roots extending from the soles of your feet, deep into the soil below you. With each inhale, draw nourishing Earth energy up through those roots — into your legs, your belly, your heart, your throat, and all the way up into your mind. With each exhale, soften. Let your body absorb that energy like a sponge. Repeat this a few times, letting your nervous system settle and your thoughts slow.
Keeping Earth in mind also means keeping Earth in the body. Letting wisdom rise from the ground up, rather than living only in the head.
final thoughts: New moon in Aquarius with eclipse 2026
I hope you found this info on the New Moon in Aquarius with Eclipse 2026 helpful.
This Aquarius New Moon Solar Eclipse reminds us that the future is not something we rush toward — it is something we root into.
As the Eagle and the Condor remember and choose one another, we are asked to hold innovation and reverence in the same breath. To think boldly, while staying embodied. To dream collectively, while remaining accountable to this living planet.
For now, our work is simple and profound: ground in, get centered and keep Earth in mind — in our bodies, our choices, and our visions of what comes next.
May this Aquarius new Moon of 2026, with solar eclipse, root us all back into the reality of our shared coexistence on this interconnected planet. And may we envision a future that is rooted in innovation, equity and a deep reverence for Earth and the life she holds.
with infinite love and lunar blessings,
Rachael
